Through innovative initiatives, Manitoba First Nations Schools and youth have embraced technology as a tool for academic excellence and cultural preservation.

By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and tailored programs, Manitoba First Nations SchoolNet has cultivated a landscape where curiosity flourishes and potential knows no bounds. Manitoba First Nations SchoolNet paves the way for a brighter future, where every school and student has the opportunity to realize their full potential.

Highlights (Programs)

• Digital Lab deployments to Indian Band Schools.
• Subscription software renewals and hardware purchases for network monitoring
• SMART Board deployments
• Professional training development for teachers and staff
• Internet bandwidth upgrades
• Data cabling projects
• Help Desk Services throughout the school year
• Connectivity services for 58 locations
• Hardware purchases to help enhance connectivity and networking (FortiAP's, Switches, Cat5E Cables, etc)

Highlights (Youth)

• For the 23/24 cohort, we will hire 27 youth interns and 1 Regional Coordinrator.
• The training conference will be in Winnipeg on November 26- December 1, 2023, at the Victoria Inn Convention Centre and Hotel.
• Participate in an introduction to computer refurbishment course through Computers 4 Schools Manitoba
• Get to connect and interact with Industry leaders, tech company and post secondary schools that will be speaking at the event
• The interns that will participate in the conference and complete the IC3 certification program through Nation Innovation.
• The program serves as an introduction to basic IT knowledge and skill that helps develop a broader understanding of IT. There is a large demand for IT skills in Indian Bands located on Indian Reserves, which can and will lead to employment opportunities.
